STAR STYLE AND ORANGE CRUSH

Emmy Rossum has officially taken over in this J. Mendel dress! The peachy, orange-y slightly sheer, fitted but draped beautifull-ness reminds me of Fage yougurt with bits of peach, apricot and swirls of honey....ok, so I'm a little hungry.

This dress is just what the winter ordered. Considering the average New Yorker wouldn't be caught dead in any other color besides black, all seasons included, Emily's dress warms up the room and gives hope that this season will be a bit more colorful.

An excellent lower priced option is available from Asos. Their "Fit and Flare" Dress is flowy, flirty and pretty. It's a steal at only $78!!

HOT AND FRESH OUT THE KITCHEN!

About 3 weeks ago I went shopping at Duane Reade and I stumbled upon JONES Magazine. Boy was I impressed! Jones Magazine is a brand new high fashion quarterly publication geared toward affluent women of color. That's me!....minus the affluent part.

Fantastic is a word that initially comes to my mind in describing this magazine. With its glossy pages, runway photos, designer profiles and high end clothing, it's in a category unlike any other magazine that caters to women of color.

In comparison to Essence, Ebony or gag Jet Magazine, Jones is fresher, younger, more upbeat and more upscale. They feature interviews with current music artist, actresses and up and coming designers. The subject matter is in general more appealing; think NYLON magazine with a touch of ELLE and a sprinkle of PEOPLE. Fabulous! If you don't see it in your local drugstore ask for it. Let's support the cause....we NEED more magazines like this! Enjoy:)

GOLDEN GLOBES 2011

WHO'S THE PRETTIEST OF THEM ALL?

Golden Globes 2011 was absolutely FANTASTIC! I honestly expected a fashion disaster, a la 2010 but I was pleasantly surprised at the forethought and time put into making this event magical and memorable.

Of course there were a few train wrecks, ie Helena Bonham Carter (aka"Queen of Hearts" in Alice in Wonderland) and the yawn provoking Guiliana Rancic's black strapless dress. What the heck was she thinking? Normally she wears a friggin Mexican quincenera Jr. prom dress and now this?  #1  It's a bit severe on her painfully thin frame and looks slightly ridiculous in 85 degree weather. #2 The detail on the dress was rendered invisible on camera so why even bother wearing it?

On a lighter note peach, pink, beige and cream dominated the red carpet along with sequins, embellished bead work, glitter and whatever extraterrestrial-esque, futuristic beautifulness Anne Hathaway wore! With that being said, here are the best and worst of the Golden Globes 2011!

-BEST DRESSED-
Ann Hathaway wearing Giorgio Armani Prive, picture by Kyle Rover/ Startraks
If I had a penny for every time Anne Hathaway rocked it on the red carpet I'd have made this dress myself!

Halle Berry in Nina Ricci, picture by Steve Granitz/WireImage
She's a #1 stunner no matter what she wears.

Christina Aguilera in Zuhair Murad, picture by Getty Images
I'm still getting used to Christina's full body lady lumps but I must say she channels the ultimate pinup girl in this fantastic dress!

January Jones wearing Versace, picture by Getty Images
Hell hath no fury like January Jones in a sexy red dress! Stunning!

Jayma Mays wearing Alberta Ferretti, picture by Frazer Harrison/Getty Images
Elegant and detailed with a twist of sexy.

Olivia Wilde wearing Marchesa, picture by Getty Images
Sparkle, spice and everything nice. Olivia's dress looks like a million little stars landed on her dress. Beautiful!

Melissa Leo wearing an unknown black shimmery dress, picture by Getty Images
Melissa play Mark Walberg's trashy ghetto mother in the movie, "The Fighter." In this dress she is worlds away from 3 packs of cigarettes a day and wearing house slippers in the street. What a difference a day makes.

Jennifer Lawrence wearing Louis Vuitton, picture by Steve Granitz/WireImage
Although this dress looks a little like dyed paper mache' I love the shape, color and detail. A+

Natalie Portman wearing Victor and Rolf, picture by Wire Images
I'm not particularly in love with this dress but she did win a Golden Globe so that has to account for something.

-WORST DRESSED-
Helena Bonham Carter wearing Vivienne Westwood, picture by Getty Images
Hot mess. Fabric vomit. Color blindness.

Heidi Klum in Marc Jacobs, picture by Getty Images
Put away your tools and leave the runway.

Michelle Williams wearing Valentino, picture by Steve Granitz/WireImage
OMGod! This print has to go. She looks like she needs to be on the set of, "Little House on The Prairie."

Christina Hendricks wearing Chopard, picture by Jason Merritt/Getty Images
Just no. Christina already has a large bust, why would she want to wear tits on her shoulder?

SIMPLY DREADFUL!

I have two major issues that are simply dreadful at the moment. The first has to do with the relaunch of my website, its taking way longer than expected and it's driving me insane! Moving right along....
The next issue has to do with a certain nail polish...uh hem Sinful Colors. It pretty much sucks. As you all know I hate to bash brands but this really gets under my skin.
(Notice the bite marks on the top. This nail polish makes me that angry!)

Besides having an intriguing array of colors (more color variety than Essie or OPI) the product itself is cheap in quality. I mean what do I expect at $1.99 per bottle? Right? Wrong. I don't know what formula they use but it simply ain't workin.

This polish chips like lead paint in a prewar building in the South Bronx. I've tried everything to preserve the color; buffing, basecoat, topcoat, no-chip top coat, prayer etc. but to absolutely no avail. Girls, don't believe the hype and don't buy this product. I give this product a D for Dreadful. #FAIL

Suprisingly, there is an equally inexpensive brand that relatively chip resistant called Brucci and I've been using it for years. The colors aren't quite as intriguing as Sinful Colors but at $2.99 a bottle its hard not to pass up. Try it at your local Rite Aid, Duane Reade, or Walgreens. #PASS
(Yes, I open nail polish bottles with my teeth)
